WordPress Announce 3.0 Release Candidate 1

Posted on by in Blog

WordPress yesterday released the first release candidate of WordPress 3.0. Release candidates are more stable than beta versions and new features which were being tested during the beta stage are usually close to competition.

RC1 still isn’t a ‘stable’ release as there may still be some bugs in it. So if you have a lot of plugins installed you may want to wait for a stable release, though it should definitely work with no problems on brand new websites.

According to Jane Wells:

  • Custom menus are finished
  • Multi-site is all set
  • The look of the WordPress admin has been lightened up a little bit, so you can focus more on your content
  • There are a ton of changes, so plugin authors, please test your plugins now, so that if there is a compatibility issue, we can figure it out before the final release
  • Plugin and theme *users* are also encouraged to test things out. If you find problems, let your plugin/theme authors know so they can figure out the cause.
  • There are a couple of known issues

I’ve updated my test blog though I’m going to wait for a stable release before I update WP Mods. This will give plugin developers a little more time to fix compatibility issues.

Not sure what you mean by share. You mean post a link to wpmods.com on your facebook page?

Hi there! Would you mind if I share your blog with my facebook group? There’s a lot of people that I think would really appreciate your content. Please let me know. Thank you
