Whenever I launch a new blog nowadays I create a Twitter account and Facebook fan page so that readers can get updates of new posts through these popular social media sites.
I use the reliable Twitter Feed to update Twitter with new blog posts from my blogs. For Facebook I used to use the import option within the notes section of Facebook to import posts via the RSS feed.
This is how I originally set it up for WP Mods before launching though that method isn’t perfect. Some articles didn’t always import over to Facebook and the formatting within posts was sometimes messed up too (videos etc didn’t display properly). Therefore I have tried out various WordPress Plugins and Facebook applications over the last few days in my search to WP Mods Facebook fans of the latest articles here.
The application which seems to work the best is called RSS Graffiti. Not only does the application allow you to post excerpt updates to your own profile, it also lets you easily update any of the pages you have created.
You can choose whether an image preview is generated or just a status update and you can also backdate it so that older posts from your blog are updated on your blogs fan page. It seems to update Facebook within a minute or two of publishing a post too.
The only downside is that you can’t post the full article on Facebook, something which the notes method did allow. Though, as I said earlier, that method wasn’t perfect due to formatting issues. Also, this method encourages users to visit your actual blog so you should see more comments because of it.
If you are looking for a way to update your Facebook fan page with your latest blog posts, I recommend checking RSS Graffiti out.
