TimeLine WP – A Facebook Inspired WordPress Theme

Posted on by in Blog

Timeline WP is an interesting design from JuliusDesign. It is based on the default WordPress design Twenty Eleven and inspired by the timeline that Facebook uses.

As you would expect from a theme inspired by Facebook, it has great Facebook integration. Throughout the site Facebook comments are used instead of WordPress comments. Facebook voting and sharing buttons are prevalent throughout the site too. This may not be to everyone’s tastes.

Featured categories are displayed on the homepage. The top navigation menu at the top of the page and the archive menu at the right hand side of the page are fixed into the design and do not move when you scroll down the page.

Timeline also comes with a gallery template. Photos are categorised into albums. On the album page, images are displayed using lightboxes. Like the rest of the website, Facebook comments are shown underneath the gallery area.

It also features an author template and through the theme options page you can add your Google Analytics code, link to your header and integrate your fan page by inserting your Facebook fan page ID.

Timeline is a unique design that I’m sure Facebook fanatics will love. There really isn’t any other themes out there that integrate Facebook into the theme so much.

Thanks,
Kevin

I had read yesterday that Facebook is currently suing someone who made a similar looking theme to Facebook’s old profile look. I hope this theme maker removes this theme before Facebook knows about it.

Last week FB was about to sue someone distributing a free pre-timeline-facebook-based theme

Which struck me as somewhat unsporting…

There’s actually lots of WordPress themes that imitate the design of popular websites. For example, there’s one that mimics the BBC and CNN websites.

I also wrote a review a week or so ago about a theme that lets you create a Fiverr style website. The design is an exact clone (the article will be published soon).

I am not sure how aggressive Facebook are with pursing websites etc that use their brand etc.

Wow, this theme!
I don’t think I’d use it since I don’t have a themed website for this, but the guy that made it is a genius. Kudos to him!
I really hope Facebook will give it’s consent for this.

The website says that the theme will be made â€â€¹Ãƒ¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã¢â‚¬¹free available to all, only when
Facebook will give official consent.

Wonder what Facebook is going to do with this

I’m taking a wild guess they don’t have permission to use the Facebook design and are about to be threatened with legal action.

It amazes me that people think they can get away with this sort of thing and not get in trouble for it.
