Earlier this month, theme developer “d5creation” made one of its newest WordPress templates available on WordPress.Org. The theme, which is called Small Business, caters to those who are looking to set up a WordPress website for a small-sized company. This easy to use theme is simple, yet can provide an attractive platform to launch your firm’s online front due to its large content slider and sidebars.
The official product description (which is free to download and use) states that “Small Business is a theme for Business. Customizable Background and other options will give the WordPress Driven Site an attractive look. Small Business is super elegant and Professional Theme which will create the business widely expressed. The Slider will show the featured images and contents of posts automatically. Front Page, Right and Footer Sidebar will be usable for showing the widgets and PlugIns items. Full Wide page can be used for showing showcase or other pages.”
Featured Content Slider
Perhaps the most important tool within the Small Business non-pro version is the actual homepage content slider, which can be used to focus your customers’ attention on a wide range of products, services, or news/blog information. This can be configured from the back end with very little effort and no manipulation of code is required.
The slider will take up a large portion of your homepage and has arrow icons on either side that allow front-end users to manually scroll through the content at their convenience plus tiny circular icons below. There is a separate box within the module that allows for a title, description and Call To Action button to get your clients to click through and find out more information.
Getting a background image into your WordPress site can be an important step, especially when managing a revenue driven site (either directly through advertisements or indirectly through customer referrals/brick & mortar exposure.
With Small Business, you can input your background image straight into the site and have it serve as the backdrop of your content. If you’re concerned about being able to use a specific color palette, you can simply download a color shade or multi-tone desktop wallpaper and implement it onto your website.
Sidebars and Footer regions can be used with Small Business to insert your widgets and grant clients one-click access to your website’s most important pages within the Content Management System. The screenshot below shows a typical blog-style sidebar layout, but there are other options as well if you need links to more pages or posts.
I’ve also included a screenshot of the Footer, which can be customized in a similar fashion.
Navigation And Comments
Navigating the Small Business theme is a simple front-end task that requires zero effort. There is a search function at the top-right, with the logo area pasted on the left-hand side to go along with the navigation bar that will display your site’s pages.
If a customer would like to leave a reply, he/she can do so conveniently by filling out the standard field requirements and posting a comment with one click of the mouse or mobile device button. This will give your company’s site a way to automatically deal with those who would like to provide input, either on a specific post or service offer.
Since being released earlier in November, the Small Business WordPress theme has received nearly 10,000 downloads from WordPress users worldwide. The two reviews that have been posted so far are positive and from the information we have, the theme runs smoothly with no critical issues.
“I am currently using this theme and it is working excellent for my site. Thank to the developer,” wrote one user who goes by the name “ahasma.” If you would like to give this theme a trial run, you can Download Small Business Version 1.01 directly from the WordPress.org website.
