PixelPower – The Perfect WordPress Theme For Personal Blogs

Posted on by in Blog

The quality of WordPress themes gets better and better every month. This is particularly true with premium themes. Unfortunately, the majority of new designs are trying to do everything, being suitable for corporate designs, portfolios, blogs and more. I can understand the decision to design themes that can be used in a variety of ways though more often than not the result is a design being ‘A jack of all trades and master of none’.

Which is why I’m becoming a fan of designs that focus on doing one thing and doing well. 3 or 4 years ago most themes were deigned for personal blogs but there are few designs that are created exclusively for blogs being released. One such exception is PixelPower, a minimal style blogging design that was designed in HTML5 and CSS3.

PixelPower supports all the default post formats including asides, galleries, links, images, quotes, statuses, videos, audio and chat. Through the admin panel you can upload an image logo or just use simple text for your header and set the background image too.

The theme also comes with a number of portfolio templates (1, 2 and 4 columns) and a dark and no-CSS child theme are included too.

The archives page template is something that most designers add to their themes but very few go beyond adding a link to older posts via month and category. I was therefore pleased to see that developers Cudazi went that little bit further to include tags and the latest 50 posts in the archive template too.

PixelPower looks just as good on mobile devices as it does on desktop computers.

The one thing I don’t like about the design is that the top navigation menu stays fixed when you scroll up and down the page. Thankfully, you can lock or unlock the header via the theme settings area.

A regular license for PixelPower retails for $35 from ThemeForest. It’s a beautiful design that is perfect for personal blogs, not least because of its support for all post formats.

Yes it’s a responsive design but it also has a different design for mobile devices. I recently viewed it on my iphone as I was thinking of getting it for my personal blog. It’s a completely different design specifically for mobiles.

Actually it isn’t a mobile theme. It is responsive design – open the theme demo and resize your browser, you’ll see it adjust all page elements dynamically so it looks good on all devices. A very nice theme.

Really good looking theme with a minimal design. I think this one will perfectly suit any body who needs a personal blog theme. Good to know it has a mobile version too included inside the theme itself since many times we need to install WordPress Mobile pack and stuff. Actually I am liking this trend that more and more theme providers are making their themes mobile friendly.

Me too. Most premium themes being released in themeforest etc are being packaged with mobile friendly designs. Some come with custom landing pages too.
