Design Avenue is a simple and minimal portfolio theme from developer Cudazi. It has a different look from the portfolio designs we usually see for WordPress, being just as suitable for a personal blog as it would for a portfolio.
One of themes best features is the vast number of post formats available to you. Links, images, quotes, status, video, audio and more. Multiple portfolio templates are available: small images, medium images, large images and a gallery which displays many different sizes. There is even a video gallery for showcasing videos from websites such as Vimeo and YouTube.
Featured images are auto-resized to suit the layout and through the options area you can change your background, choose colours and upload your logo.
The blog design is simple yet beautiful. The sidebar is widget ready so you can populate this area with data to suit your needs.
Shortcodes are included to help you style your content into multiple columns or a post grid. There’s a full width page template that doesn’t have a sidebar and even a page template that removes the title (I’ve never came across that before!).
Visitors can view enlarge your portfolio images and click through to see more details about the image (i.e. it takes you to a blog post where you can talk more about the photo shoot).
With more of a personal feel to it than regular portfolio designs, Design Avenue is a good option for people who are looking for something simple. It retails for $35 from ThemeForest and appears to very well supported by the developer Cudazi.
