WordPress.com VIP Opens Developer Workshop Waiting List

in Blog

WordPress.com VIP officially opened up its waiting list for the 2013 WordPress VIP Intensive Developer Workshop, to be held from May 13th-16th at The Carneros Inn in Napa, California. A few weeks ago, we brought our readers a story on how to sign up for the training intensive seminar, but all pre-designated slots have been filled. Fortunately, there may still be a chance that some late registrations will be accepted depending on available space and late cancellations.

VIP Workshop

On the website’s Workshop page, the VIP staff writes, “Do you run a large-scale WordPress site with millions of pageviews per month? Are you interested in optimizing and scaling up your enterprise site, and utilizing the latest WordPress features for your content? Do you want to share best practices, code shortcuts, and lessons learned with other VIPs? The WordPress.com Intensive VIP Developer Workshop will take place in May 2013, and this three-day event will include a packed curriculum for VIP developers with expert instructors from Automattic, the makers of WordPress.com.”

The Carneros Inn

The Carneros Inn was chosen for many reasons. For one, it resides in a central location somewhat close to Silicon Valley and other companies that routinely participate in WordCamps as well as other learning-intensive projects. Secondly, the hotel a casual conference environment that enables participants to freely mingle and even ride bicycles into nearby areas to pick up groceries and visit with locals. Finally, The Carneros Inn features an accommodating environment for tech-savvy individuals who wish to learn more about software such as WordPress.

The workshop agenda begins on Monday, May 13th, with an informal “meet and greet” via a welcoming reception with a more formal networking dinner scheduled during the evening. Participants are encouraged to arrive in the mid afternoon hours for check-in so they will have plenty of time to settle in before the event (recommended SFO arrival time is 2:00pm Pacific on Monday). On May 14th, the real courses will kick off with a full day of training provided by instructors such as Raanan Bar-Cohen, Barry Abrahamson, Paul Maiorana, Sara Rosso, Mo Jangda, Michael Adams, Beau Lebens, Nikolay Bachiyski, Daniel Bachhuber, Paul Gibbs, Alison Barrett, Matt Wiebe, Robert Collins, Mike Johnston, Fred Cheng, and others. There will also be a full day of workshops slated for Wednesday, May 15th, and networking dinners will be held each evening from Monday through Wednesday. An optional farewell breakfast will take place on Thursday, May 16th, followed by morning departures.

Since the registration process has already taken place and spots are filled, interested parties are encouraged to sign up via the Waiting List.
