Do It With WordPress owner Dave Clements contacted me recently about his latest project Win WP Stuff. The site lists the latest WordPress competitions online. It’s a good place to try and win a free plugin or theme.
According to Dave:
Win WP Stuff is a new website whose sole purpose is for listing giveaways where there are WordPress-related prizes on offer.
There are always giveaways going on all over the internet, where you can enter for the chance to win a variety of WordPress prizes, including themes, plugins, memberships, hosting and other services. Win WP Stuff is your one-stop resource for staying on top of them, so that you can be notified of all the new giveaways that are going on.
The site relies on eagle-eyed internet users and webmasters submitting new giveaways that they find, or are hosting. The intent is that, as the site gains in popularity, giveaway hosts will flock to the site to list their giveaway to gain exposure for their giveaway and earn new readers in the process.
Listing a giveaway is free, and the submissions are moderated to ensure only genuine, high-quality giveaways are listed. Giveaways that require any sort of financial transaction to enter are not eligible for listing on the site, so you can be sure that you can enter all of the giveaways without parting ways with any money. However, there may be entry requirements such as requiring a tweet, or a follow on Facebook, for example.
So head over to Win WP Stuff and see what giveaways have already been listed, and be sure to list any others that you come across. And while you’re there, subscribe to the RSS feed to get notified of future giveaways, and subscribe to the email list to get occasional emails when an unmissable giveaway gets listed.
The site only launched yesterday so there’s only around 5 competitions listed so far. I suspect this will grow fairly quickly as Dave as been heavily promoting the site.
Competitions are listed by those which are ending soonest. Details of each competition are listed in a blog post.
At the moment the home page is dominated by a large featured slider and listings of 5 competitions that are ending soon. I’d rather Dave changed this to something more akin to Digg or Sphinn so that users could see all listings easily and sort them by price type, date, website offering the prize etc. I’m sure the website will evolve as it gains more traffic.
I encourage you to check it out as it’s a great concept. Best of luck to Dave with the site – I’m sure it will be a success :)
