Win A Yearly Hosting Plan From Site5

in Blog

Site5 are one of the most popular hosting companies on the web. They could also be the kindest as they have offered 3 year long hosting plans exclusively for WP Mods readers.

They offer shared, reseller, cloud hosting and virtual server packages. Their most advanced shared hosting package is the ‘HOSTPRO + TURBO’ package. The package retails at $155.40 if you pay for a year up front or $167.40 if you choose to pay monthly at $13.95. You can host an unlimited number of websites and you can have a dedicated IP address for your account too. Site5 will also help migrate your websites from your existing hosting company if you wish.

Site5 Hosting

To win one of the 3 hosting packages up for grabs, simply answer the following question (in the comment area):

  • What is your biggest annoyance about web hosting?

The best 3 responses will be chosen as the winners and announced on 23 April 2012. Best of luck to everyone who enters the competition and many thanks to Site5 for donating such great prizes.

My biggest annoyance about web hosting is that I have to stop to think about it when it should be invisible. This obviously occurs when something is not working. Dependability is #1 with me.

To me it is lack of communication during downtime. Technical problems do happen but keeping customers in loop is must.

Personally I hate having limits and just be limited with certain things in general is annoying, but when it comes to web hosting, it’s just “grinds my gears” (had to add a little humor to the comment – Family Guy reference). When I see unlimited this and that it’s just a dream, and having great features with the web hosting at cheap prices is fantastic (i.e. WordPress, and other great things you can install just makes life so much easier). You don’t wanna have this huge website and then the next day having it crash and burn because your limited to this and that, ya’ know what I mean? And I have to agree with the others, Customer support is always a pain.

For me the biggest annoyance is making Customer Support understand your problem. At times you have to deal with untrained Customer Support Executives who just reply with generic answers to complex problems. Or they end up blaming the customers for the mess or the worst will ask you to upgrade your plan just because you got 5000 more visitors then that what they mentioned in their TOS. Having a well trained and technical Support staff is very essential who understands your problem and helps you in resolving it to full satisfaction.

Restrictions on transfer. Unstable. High prices. Ignoring customers for technical assistance. The technical assistance is well until the payment of fees. Account on the server works fine (often) only for half a year.

For me, I’d say two things. Customer support is hard to get right, just due to the nature of hosting (especially shared). Don’t let it break, but if it breaks, we need to know ASAP! Second, I need to be able to get around the backend smoothly. Don’t just give me a folder tree and an ftp login. Make it a bit more obvious!

I’ve heard good things about Site5 and would love to give it a try.

For me, contacting the support team of a web host is the most annoying.
An ideal web host is one which never bring up scenarios of contacting a web host.
I hate when the web host don’t give quick responses during downtime or when any other problems arise.

Would love to host all of our WordPress sites on Site5

What I am experiencing now with my current hosting company. They migrated all of my domains to a new server and in the process lost part or all of the databases. They claim it was a “Light Error”… Go figure.

Another is constant injections of virus and trojans into my WordPress sites despite best efforts at security and hardening of the domains. Their response? Change passwords often (d’uh) and keep scripts updated (double d’uh)

Wonder if Site 5 is any better?

Downtime and how web host responds to us during down time  is the Biggest annoyance about web hosting. User’s must be given some information regarding like what are the causes of down time and how much time it would take to restore the service etc.
