VaultPress Adds One Click Restore

in Blog

My favourite WordPress service VaultPress have announced the addition of one-click database restores. This was one feature that alternative solutions such as BackupBuddy offered but VaultPress did not.

Even if you are comfortable using database management scripts such as PHPMyAdmin, this is still a huge time saver as you don’t have to upload the backup file to your server to perform the database restore. All you have to do is login to your VaultPress panel and click on the ‘Restore Database’ button.

The length of time it takes to restore your database depends on the size of the database itself. It could take anything from a few minutes to a few hours.

One of the best things about the restore process is that VaultPress doesn’t overwrite over any of your existing data. Existing tables are simply renamed using the prefix vp_backup_. You can then delete these later once you know that the database restore has been performed correctly.

I’ve been a fan of VaultPress since it first launched and one of their biggest supporters. I personally never had any issues with the service not offering one-click restores before as it restoring a database via PHPMyAdmin isn’t a major inconvenience. The new feature is certainly welcomed though and I’m sure it will convince more people to try out the service.

VaultPress costs $15 per website per month. If you are looking for a hassle free way of backing up your database on an hourly database, I recommend you check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
