Display Your Latest Pinterest Pins in Your Sidebar with Pretty Pinterest Pins

in Blog

If you haven’t heard of Pinterest by now, you must be living under a rock! Everyone seems to be talking about it lately; it’s definitely gaining a lot of popularity and rather quickly. Basically, Pinterest is a virtual pinboard: you can clip images from the Web and organize them into workboards to share with the world.

With that being said, if you’ve been looking for an easy way to share your Pinterest activity on your WordPress blog, you’ve found it with the Pretty Pinterest Pins plugin.

The gist of the plugin is that it lets you “show off images, captions, and links from your latest Pinterest activity”. It does this by displaying thumbnails and links to your pins right in your blog sidebar (via a widget). You can customize the widget to display pins from any Pinterest user really, but I’m sure most people would prefer to display their own pins.

Customize the Pretty Pinterest Pins Widget

There are not too many options with this one. Besides customizing the title of the widget and entering a Pinterest username, you can also set the number of pins to show, choose whether to display a caption for your thumbnails, and choose to show a “Follow Me” button so that others can follow you on Pinterest.

While I do like the simplicity of the widget, I wish that there was a way to specify how many rows and columns to use for the widget. Unless you have a really skinny sidebar, this widget will barely fill half of it. Personally, I think it would look better to have 2 pins side-by-side rather than underneath each other. What do you think?

I’m not very familiar with editing plugins using the WordPress editor, so I won’t dare try to tweak it. However, even with that small flaw, I do like the plugin enough to use it on my blog homepage. I hope to see some major updates in the future.
