Lysa – A Simple 2 Column Blogging Theme For WordPress

in Blog

Lysa is a beautiful free two column blogging theme from theme developers Beatheme. It comes with 8 colour schemes: grey, brown, blue, sky blue, green, turquoise, red and black.

The main menu is placed at the top of the page with a large bold logo placed underneath. The logo can easily be changed in the theme settings area by simply specifying the URL of the logo. Underneath the logo area is a cool drop down category menu (you can exclude certain categories via the settings area).

In total the theme has 6 widget areas: 3 for the sidebar and 3 in the footer. The theme also generates post thumbnails automatically when you upload an image to a post.

Whereas most themes use large home page sliders to display featured posts, Lysa showcases featured posts at the top of the sidebar. Via the settings area you can specify the category you want to feature and the number of posts (i.e. featured post boxes) you want to include.

A follow me box is included that links to your RSS feed, Twitter, Facebook and, very bizarrely, Flickr. I’m puzzled as to why Flickr is included instead of Google+, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon or even YouTube. Though there are lots of great social media plugins available for WordPress so it isn’t a major problem.

Google Analytics can also be added to your site via the settings area and there is an about me section that is placed in the footer.

Lysa is a well designed theme that comes with a lot of useful features. Worth checking out if you are on the lookout for a good free blogging theme.
