Automattic Expands VIP Offerings

WP VIP

In late July WPHub posted a summary of the WordPress VIP program outlining what the VIP program includes and what it takes for a website to qualify for VIP status. Quick recap: The program is not for the nigglies – the little sites out there with minimal traffic. With starting costs ranging from $1250 to $3750 per month, VIP status, which offers enterprise-level scaling, bullet proof security and site optimization, among other things, is mostly for high-traffic sites like CNN, BoingBoing, TechCrunch, Time, and InStyle magazine, to name a few.

Recently, Automattic has added even more value to the program. It announced an expansion of the VIP Featured Partner Program to include interactive agencies and new platform partners that will have the opportunity to promote their services and features to large-scale VIP members. Broad and varied in their offerings, the partners’ inclusion means they are certified and supported by the WordPress.com VIP team.

Technology partners include the following:

  • Chartbeat – Chartbeat Publishing provides “real-time website data for website doers.” Its algorithms forecast the expected performance of site content via a beautiful at-a-glance dashboard and alerts you to abnormalities so you can be proactive instead of reactive in addressing anomalies.
  • Facebook – just a couple of clicks is all it takes to make your site social.
  • PostRelease – Allows you to generate revenue from relevant sponsored messages on your sites on a platform that provides complete transparency, automation and control.
  • MediaPass – a quick plugin tool that turns readers into subscribers. Charge for some articles, and keep others free, while not interfering with your advertising and manage it all from your MediaPass dashboard.
  • TinyPass – Makes it easy to charge small amounts for smaller bits of content (think photographs, music files, ezine articles, etc.)  If you don’t want to manage subscriptions or if that just doesn’t make sense for your business model, TinyPass acts like a digital wallet, connecting consumers with content on your site with their existing on-line payment methods (i.e. PayPal, Amazon Payments, Google Checkout, etc.) to make check out easy – no long forms required.

Service Partners include:

  • 10up – Content management consultants at 10up make content management easy as pie. Core staff are educators at universities and WordCamps, the service provides free plugins, and operates under a service-minded vibe focused on making the best WordPress sites around.
  • Alley Interactive – A site builder for big clients in media, entertainment and higher education, Alley Interactive provides everything from backend and frontend development to site operations to content development and team building.
  • Voce Communications – Voce is a PR consultancy that uses a combination public relations, social media marketing and web development to create and distribute content in a world-class manner and drive brand awareness.
  • Oomph – Similar to Alley Interactive, Oopm provides website support but to a broader section of clients. Services include web strategy consulting, design and development, CRM and information systems, web maintenance and support.
  • Doejo – A digital design firm based in Chicago, Doejo has developed hundreds of sites, apps, campaigns, commercials and brands and they are “pretty confident [they] can build or launch just about anything.”

This isn’t even the complete list! You can view WordPress VIP’s full list of partners here. Or, if you’re an interactive agency or technology platform and would like to apply to be a Featured Partner, you can get in touch with WordPress VIP here.
