Use PersonalPress For Your Blog Site
If you’re unfamiliar with the process for downloading and installing premium themes, rest assured that it is very easy to do and can be completed in 2 minutes from start to finish. Upon subscribing to Elegant Themes, visit the members page and scroll down until you see the PersonalPress icon. Click the “Download” graphic to the right and then select “Theme Package” once the popup window appears. You’ll need to save the .zip folder locally.
Go the the wp-admin area of your blog and click the Appearance > Themes tab from the left-hand menu to bring up a new window. On the top, click the “Install Themes” tab and then the “Upload” link below that. Next, browse for your PersonalPress .zip file and click “Install Now.” It should take less than a minute for the theme to install onto your blogsite.
If you’re ready to make PersonalPress the default theme for your blog, click “Activate” once it has unpacked. The window will now show your Current Theme along with a “PersonalPress Theme Options” link to access the ePanel.
This theme is built pretty much exclusively for blog sites. You won’t find a multi-faceted Featured Slider or sleek animation within this package, but you WILL encounter the common ePanel customization options such as Shortcodes, Layout Settings, SEO and Ad Management.
The homepage sets the tone and lets the reader know that he/she is visiting a website with a personal touch. The logo and sub-text center at the top of all pages followed by page links and brief descriptions. PersonalPress is a page-based Content Management System (CMS) even though it is meant for blogs. There is nonetheless an optional toggle to revert to a blog-style structure that will display new entries in full if you believe that will best suit your individual needs. If not, the default theme settings will show abbreviated versions of your posts along with a re-sized thumbnail and “Read More” button.
Single Post Layout, Social Media and Sidebar
From the ePanel, you can program posts to display the author’s name, date, category and number of comments with a click of your mouse. Social Media buttons can be placed in the right sidebar area along with other widgets from the backend “Widget” control settings.
In the image below, you can see the right sidebar. If you’d like to place advertisements in this widgetized area, there is an option to use 125×125 banners. Otherwise, you can visit the Ad Management tab on the ePanel to enable the 468×60 ad banners that come included in most Elegant Themes premium products.
