Artiste, not too surprisingly, is designed for artists. This portfolio theme was built with the idea of building a WordPress theme that could serve as a presence for artists and that emphasize their work rather than the look of the site. The theme is provided with many different features that allow it to be customized in as many ways as you can imagine. If you do happen to get lost while you are trying to get this theme set up the way you want, you’ll find that there is extensive documentation included to help you out. The theme should not be difficult to figure out for anybody with professional design skills.

Unique Homepage Layout
With a four-column default portfolio section that takes up the vast majority of the Artiste homepage, any visitor will immediately take notice of your site and the way its content is presented. LightBox effects are used to highlight any image that is currently being moused-over, plus there is a full sidebar that perfectly complements the homepage.
Clicking on any of the photographs will take the reader directly to the entry.
Flexibility Through Page Templates
There are several different page templates included with Artiste and they include selections for an archives section, a contact form, and more. The theme is sold with three custom widgets that are designed to allow you to import your Flickr photo stream, videos and your Twitter feed. The theme can be fully localized. If you have an international audience for your work, you can change the language that the site appears in with the click of a mouse, allowing anybody to read about what you have to say and to easily navigate the works that you feature on your site.
Given that this theme is designed for artists, it’s reasonable to expect that many of the people who will purchase it will have considerable skills with photo editing programs. If you’re not too adept at coding but want to make significant changes to the look and feel of the site, you can alter the PSD file that’s included with the theme directly, which gives you total control. The theme is also provided with an unbranded theme options panel. If you are a professional designer and are putting the theme together for a client, there isn’t any logo or other information on the control panel that will let them know you started with a WordPress theme.
Support Forums & Documentation
There are forums for support, in addition to all the documentation that is included with this theme. The theme is compatible with all of the modern browsers on the market and the code is rock-solid and professionally designed. If you are an artist in need of a great theme or if you’re a professional designer who does a lot of work for artists, you should find that Artiste is a good option for your projects.
