WordPress handles search engine optimisation pretty well by default however there are a number of plugins available that help you improve your presence in the search engines. One such plugin is SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2. The plugin aims to improve the number of pages you have indexed online.

It does this through a number of widgets. You can display incoming search terms to your blog posts, popular search terms and random search terms too. Another great feature is the ability to convert incoming search terms for a blog post directly into tags and place them directly underneath your article, thus helping the post rank higher for that term.

Posts that have no incoming search engine traffic are automatically scheduled to be re-published after 30 days of publishing. Older search terms that haven’t been used in 90 days are automatically removed from the database too.

I have not tested the plugin long enough to see how well the plugin helps SEO rankings. The one thing I have saw in action was the re-publication of old posts. I had activated the feature and just before this very post went online the plugin published the first two posts ever published on WP Mods i.e. changed the date from 21 March 2010 and 22 March 2010 to 17 August 2011 so that it would be shown on the main stream etc again. This would be useful for websites that are using WordPress as a CMS to publish articles that aren’t time relevant however it isn’t practical for regular blogs in my opinion.

    Does that mean if your set your permalink date/postname, the permalink will change too?

    What happen to a post that already have pr then? ist that just destroying pr?
