Chartbeat Plugin Review: Get Real-Time Analytics on WordPress

If you find yourself obsessing over site stats, social shares, and Google Analytics then Chartbeat is basically your new favorite porn. This beautifully designed real-time analytics service tracks just about everything you could ever want to track…and maybe a little bit more.

What is Chartbeat Plugin For?

In short, Chartbeat is a WordPress Plugin for data geeks or those aspiring to be. And if you’re thinking that that could never be you – be wary of their demos. You may find yourself caring about analytics a bit more than you thought possible.

Good design is like that.

Here is a peek at the different sections in the Chartbeat demo page, which is actually a live Chartbeat dashboard for someecards.com.

So obviously, this looks really cool. And if you’re anything like me – you want it. But just as you may have already found out with Google Analytics…it’s kind of a bummer to look at a really inactive analytics dashboard. So if you don’t have a lot of traffic or social engagement, it’s probably best to pump your breaks here and work on that stuff first. Once you’ve got some nice engagement, use a tool like this to enhance and fine-tune your efforts.

Chartbeat Plugin Pricing

That’s not to say of course that this service is unreasonable price-wise though. On the contrary, you can get started with a free 30-day trial and then continue at $9.95/month. Well worth it if the service is actually helpful to your current efforts. And if that’s you then you’re probably wondering at this point how to link it to your WordPress site…

With the Chartbeat plugin for WordPress of course, what else? Just head over to the WordPress.org Plugin Directory, download this little gem, and it will make installing the necessary Chartbeat code into your site a breeze.

As usual, once you’ve downloaded the plugin go to your WordPress Admin > Plugins > Add New > Upload and install the zipped file. Once installed and activated you will see a new linked called Chartbeat under your Settings menu in the admin sidebar. From there, you just have to follow their instructions for linking your new Chartbeat account to the plugin.

Have you used Chartbeat for your website already? Do you want to now? Tell us all about it in the comments below.

And oh yeah, you can download the Chartbeat Plugin for WordPress here.
