The Thesis Framework has proved to be one of the most popular premium frameworks over the last 3 years. Thesis allows beginners to build and customise their own websites with ease however the default design is rather plain.
One of the major criticisms of Thesis, and all frameworks for that matter, is that whilst it lets those with little design experience create their own websites, it is still very difficult for them to create professional looking designs. I’m sure many people would agree with me that the final design of Thesis users who have little design experience is a skin which looks pretty much identical to the default design (apart from a few colour and structure changes).
This is why skins have been so popular for thesis. Skins allow beginners and experts to quickly acquire a professional looking design for their site which looks nothing like the default design; whilst still retaining the ability to change things around using all of Thesis’s features.

A lot of the skins here get a godaddy.com page and not anything about the skin …
