Brooklyn – A Grungy Blogging Theme For Musicians, Bands And Artists

in Blog

Our friends at Gorilla Themes released a fantastic blogging theme recently entitled Brooklyn. The grungy design comes with 5 colour schemes and was created specifically for musicians, bands, artists and bloggers.

It has a traditional blog layout with content on the left and a sidebar on the right hand side of the page. At the top of the home page is a box which displays a a featured post slider on the left hand side and a SoundCloud music player on the right hand side. The player looks great. I’m not a huge fan of audio or video playing automatically when you visit a page, particularly on the home page as it’s a page you go back to frequently. Thankfully, this is a setting that can be disabled easily and if you prefer the SoundCloud box can be replaced with YouTube or Vimeo videos instead.

The theme works with WordPress custom backgrounds, has a full width page templatge and the sidebar and large footer are widget ready. Dedicated widgets for Feedburner and Flickr are included and the files are translated in English and Spanish.

Via the settings area you change your logo and there is a stylesheet switcher too.

Brooklyn is a great choice if you are looking for a theme for your music or artistic site. I also think that it would be a great design for any blog as you have the option of easily changing the background and logo and can embed videos on the home page header too.

An essential license for Brooklyn retails for $39.95 however does not come with forum support. The standard package retails for $69.95 and comes with forum support and for $99.95 you can get the original Photoshop PSD files too.

The generous guys at Gorilla Themes have kindly donated 3 standard packages (with support) to WP Mods readers. Make sure you check out WP Mods tomorrow for more details on how to win this great design.
